THE CADEN LIPSKY STORY
A West Valley graduating senior with a 5.24 GPA won't be recognized as Valedictorian by his school district... in the name of "equity."
The West Valley's Caden Lipsky is a graduating senior with a 5.24 GPA. Number one in his class. But the aspiring astronaut won't be named "Valedictorian" due to school district guidelines now becoming more popular in schools nationwide.
In January, we first told you about this phenomenon in our Substack, “Competition with No Winner.”
We followed up showing how educators and educational institutions reward themselves with nice prizes… while at the same time stripping hardworking students of Valedictorian and Salutatorian status.
While schools like to brag on #1 athletes, they diminish the values of hard work in the classroom by lumping top students into categories of Top 1%, Top 5%, and Top 10%. No longer are Valedictorians and Salutatorians honored in a growing number of school districts.
If you'd like Caden's school to reconsider its policy and allow him to wear Valedictorian designation as he walks across the stage, please sign this petition.
We know other high school districts in Arizona follow this policy. If you’d like to send us a tip about this happening to other students, please contact us.
